Little Miss

Dear Friends,

It is with a very heavy heart, and absolute sadness that I must let you all know that we assisted in Little Miss's journey to greener pastures on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Little Miss was rescued by Equine Voices in the fall of 2004 from an auction house in Texas. She was delivered to auction from Manitoba, Canada, and was pregnant with Joy, whom she delivered the following spring. This very difficult decision was made the day before after we witnessed Little Miss having trouble getting up. Her body has endured so much in the last six months, and as we know, her breathing, coughing, and high temperatures have not improved. Little Miss will always hold a very, very special place in our hearts and souls. She is now free from her suffering. A heartfelt thank you for those of you who helped Little Miss the day before and the day of, I know she was grateful, as am I.

Little Miss,
Rest in Peace...

With love,
Karen

Sissy & Frankie Are Looking For That Special Someone To Adopt or Sponsor Them

Sissy is looking for a sponsor to help with her care or a good forever home. Sissy had nowhere to go after her owner was shot and killed by her owner's boyfriend. Sissy was going to be euthanized, but the authorities searched for a safe home for her instead. Sissy was brought to Equine Voices on December 18th, 2014 after we agreed to take her. She is an elderly horse, approximately 30 years of age. Sissy is sweet, gentle, gets along well with other horses, and would make a fantastic companion horse.

Frankie is also looking for a sponsor to help with his care or a good forever home. Frankie was another discard after having served humans his whole life. His owner was sending him to the sale "because they were downsizing." The previous owners originally got Frankie to help their daughter who had a brain tumor and they thought having a safe horse would help her in her recovery. Most likely Frankie would have ended up at the slaughterhouse in Mexico if Equine Voices had not taken him. Frankie is very depressed and shows no sign of light and life. Beside good food, extra supplements and a safe place, he is in need of much love to help him get through his pain. Frankie gets along with other horses, is very sweet, and would make a great companion horse.

Sissy & Frankie both reside at the sanctuary and are looking for someone to sponsor or adopt them. Won't you consider adopting or sponsoring these sweet gentle horses? If you would like to adopt or sponsor Sissy or Frankie please visit our website by clicking here. To visit the sanctuary and meet Sissy and Frankie, please contact us at info@equinevoices.org or by calling 520-398-2814.

Despite the Rain, our Holiday Open House was a Great Success!

Of all the days, wind and rain!!! Although the Holiday Open House fell on the only day that week that Southern Arizona was showered with cold rain and wind, the community came to the sanctuary to meet the horses and support the event. Our amazing volunteers were freezing, but were still smiling! The wonderful vendors; Weebles, Wobbles and More, Trustory Kettle Corn, Tommie DiMaggio's On the Road Cafe, Mrs Piggy's Tummy Yummies, Green Heart Bakery, and more weathered the storm and provided warm food, goodies and fun things to buy for the holidays. For the first time this year, we had a visitor who entertained the kids and the adults alike. Thank you Santa! Gulliver and Pirate strutted their stuff with trainer Carol Grubb and Diane and Connie showed our guests our latest rescues and the new expansion, soon to be the "Equine Voices Training and Adoption Center". The highlight for me, was the Blessing of the Animals, by Father Dan of St. Francis of the Valley Church. His blessings were powerful and done with love, compassion, and a true heart for the animals. A special blessing was presented to Little Miss, which will forever be embedded in the minds of those who were present. Thank you Father Dan!

Stay tuned for our next Open House.
Let's hope for warmer and dry weather!

Thank you all for being part of this wonderful event and Happy New Year!
-Karen
