The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) – ACTION ALERT
Update on bad animal cruelty bill!
March 2014 – Special Edition!

HB 2587 passed out of the House committee, despite more than 100 people attending to oppose it! It has passed out of House Rules and is waiting to be heard by the full House. In the meantime, a similar bill was introduced in the Senate and rushed through the committee process. SB 1267 passed out of the committees and is also headed for a vote by the full Senate. These bills are on a fast track and we need to stop them!

Thanks to the tremendous outcry of opposition from animal protection groups, law enforcement and others, amendments are being proposed to the "ag-gag" bill that will remove some of the bad language, including the "ag-gag" portion! Unfortunately, the bill would STILL do much more harm than good for the animals in our state. To read more Click Here and to how contact your legislatures.

Please make your voice heard. This bill can be vetoed!!!!!!!

Quite a ride: A history of Sahuarita's wild horses

The hoof prints of unshod horses punctuate the wash between Rancho Resort and the Mission Mine in Sahuarita. The prints vary in size, but all are smaller than the feet of an average-sized quarter horse.

It's early March, and the wild horses of Sahuarita are back – though some wonder if they ever really left.

Jodi Cervantes, associate manager for Lewis Management Resources, the company that manages Rancho Resort, saw them herself several weeks ago.

"There were four full-grown horses and two colts," Cervantes says. She likes the horses, but advises residents to be careful around them. "We let residents know not to pet them or feed them." To Read More of This Article Click Here
