Act Now to Save the Salt River Wild Horses

There is nothing more beautiful or majestic than a herd of wild horses. Unfortunately, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) apparently does not agree with that statement, considering that they plan to round up and capture several dozen horses that live along the Salt River just east of Mesa, Arizona. The USFS claims the horses are simply feral and therefore dangerous; and, to add insult to injury, the decision was made without any public hearings, notices, or announcements whatsoever. According to several rumors circulating the media, the wild horses will be slaughtered once they are captured.

The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 states that the Salt River horse herd has every right to roam freely and needs to be preserved. In addition, the U.S. government has every obligation to protect them because the horses are one of the last symbols of the Wild West and a true representation of liberty in a world where liberty is very difficult to obtain. There is still time to protest the capture of these horses while the U.S. Forest Service spends time researching the overall herd population and ways of removing them. Tell the USFS that their motives are deplorable and disgraceful. Click HERE to sign the ForceChange petition now to save the herd and the freedom they represent. Click HERE to sign the Change.org petition as well.

Here is a link to a video about and in defense of the Salt River Wild Horses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdSTVxzQKao

KVOA News 4 did a story on these beautiful horses and came to Equine Voices to talk with us about the issue. Please click HERE to view their story now. Thank you to Sean Mooney and Angelique for taking the story and helping to be their voice!

UPDATE: Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain wrote letters to the Forest Service asking that they postpone the roundup. We believe it is in the best interest of the Salt River Wild Horses that we still take action and sign the petitions. We need to be a voice for these beautiful, sentient beings. Thank you.

Meet Max and Carly

On July 13, 2015, we received a call from the Sheriff's office requesting help with removing two horses from a horse trailer that needed to be confiscated. The truck and horse trailer was pulled over on the I-19 for what appeared to be suspicious activity. We were asked to give temporary housing to the horses until further notice. We had one pen available and obliged. Ted Wilson our Ranch Manager met the Sheriff and the horses were brought back to Equine Voices. As it turns out, the truck and trailer that was pulled over contained 14 bales of marijuana. The horses, who we've named Max and Carly each had injuries that required treatment. We are grateful that Max and Carly are with us so we can give them the necessary medical care they need.

Speaking for The Horses Across The Pond;
Equine Voices Speaks at Oxford

Equine Voices was honored to be invited to the second annual conference at the Centre for Animal Ethics in Oxford, England where Carolyn Crowder PhD Board Member and Karen Pomroy, Founder/President of Equine Voices spoke on behalf of the Premarin mares and the horrors of the Premarin Industry. Over 150 individuals and scholars from around the globe attended this three day intensive conference on animal experimentation. Equine Voices is grateful to have had the opportunity to speak on behalf of the mares and foals that have suffered at the hands of the pharmaceutical companies, and to speak on their behalf in an international setting.

Petitioning People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

The following petition was entered on Change.org by Judith Monro: Please can PETA help? Video shows Paul Frassa, a renowned and well known horse trainer; Tucuman Province, savagely beating a horse. This abuser should be named, shamed; and banned from having contact with any animal again! Please click HERE to sign the petition on Change.org. WARNING: The video on the site is very graphic.
